Party in the Park: A Day of Sports, Dancing, and Delicious Food

Updated: Aug 4

What could be better than celebrating the sunny days of summer with friends, food, and fun? On July 26th, the park transformed into a lively venue for our summer bash that brought together villagers for a day filled with laughter, sports, dancing, and mouth-watering bites. With summer at its peak, the weather was typically mixed, with rain easing off to be replaced by a cool wind.

A Sports Day Extravaganza

Taking charge of the Sports Day was the enthusiastic Tom Joyner, aided by Michael Casswell. There was an eclectic mix of sports and all the young participants seemed to have a great time.

Dancing the Night Away

As the afternoon rolled on, attention turned to the music in the marquee, with three great bands. First up was Park Royal, the local lads who played a tremendous set. Then Scott Walker, who had made such a great impression last year, returned with his solo act getting the crowd singing. Finally Empire returned to the main stage, with their highly professional mix of favourite hits getting everyone on their feet. The bar was well frequented and Spyros kept people fed with his delicious burgers and hot-dogs.

Thanks to so many people are due: the team that put together the gazebos, bales and marquee and set up the restrained degree of orange netting; the team that took it all down the next day; the bar staff and the Pimms makers; the team that sourced the local drinks; the people that organised all the little details that are needed to put on an event like this. Thank you to you all!

So here’s to the next Party in the Park - 18th July 2026. May it be even better!
